Torpedo car
The pig iron transport from the blast furnace to the steelwork is a very stable process. The Temperature, analysis and quantity of pig iron are mostly constant, but the torpedoes offer a considerable potential for improvement and influence on the current production goals.
Process:
- Entire pig iron transport process
- Improving logistics in pig iron transport, e.g. through changed heating method, standby and reserve strategy, filling level optimization
- Heat loss optimization through logistics measures, cover concepts and improved insulation concepts.
- Desulphurisation technology in torpedo’s
Engineering:
- Testing and evaluation of torpedo vessel steel shell
Refractory:
- Engineering of lining concepts
- Monitoring of refractory linings and refractory repairs
- Lining and damage assessment
- Increased refractory service life by optimizing the lining technique (easier and quicker lining) and material selection (bauxite, andalusite, ASC, "shotcreting", hot repairs)
- Torpedo safety: Thermal imaging of the steel structure as well as residual stone measurements with laser technology in torpedoes during operation
- Energy saving concepts such as realistic heat loss comparisons, cover system, improved insulation or optimization in logistics
